What's different with the Prenatal Essentials?Updated 18 hours ago

Our subscribers share a lot of love and feedback, and we’re always listening and learning. We’ve made a few updates to our Prenatal Essentials to make them easier on your stomach.

The new Complete Prenatal Pack contains the clinical-grade nutrients and third-party-tested ingredients that doctors recommend—now in a gentler formula. We switched to a gentler form of Zinc and reduced the amount of both Zinc and Vitamin B12, while still ensuring you get the recommended daily value. Iron has also been reformulated into a gentler form and placed in its own capsule to support stability and easier digestion. We’ve also removed Calcium so that Iron can shine—no competition for absorption.

Supplemental doses of Vitamin B12 are often very high—far beyond the recommended dietary intake—because your body only absorbs about 1 to 2 percent of it from supplements and flushes out any excess via urine (making it low risk for overconsumption, as it doesn’t build up in the body). Although we’ve reduced the amount in our formula, it’s still high enough to ensure you’re meeting the pregnancy requirements for fetal neural development and maternal red blood cell production—even for those who don’t absorb it as efficiently.

Calcium is important in pregnancy, but it’s also a nutrient that’s readily available in most diets and found in many fortified foods. It’s often cited as a mineral that can interfere with Iron absorption. While the amount of Calcium in our previous formula wasn’t high enough to significantly block Iron uptake, many customers still requested that these two nutrients be separated. We heard your feedback and, to simplify your routine, removed Calcium to ensure that crucial Iron stays effective. If you still want (or your doctor recommends) additional Calcium, try our Calcium + Magnesium + Vitamin D Boost. It includes 350 mg of Calcium and is formulated to be taken at night (thanks to calming Magnesium).

Here’s exactly what’s changed in a comparison of the new and old nutrition labels.
