You can start testing 6 days before your missed period. hCG roughly doubles every couple of days in early pregnancy, so the closer you get to your missed period, the more likely the test is to pick it up.
Best time of day: For the best chance of an accurate early result, use first-morning urine, when hCG is most concentrated.
If you get a negative result early but your period doesn't arrive, test again in a couple of days.
